NCCE’s post-election peace campaign reaches 5.3 million Ghanaians - Dr. Ato Forson

Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the Minister of Finance, has revealed that the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has made significant strides in promoting national unity and peaceful coexistence following the 2024 general elections.

He said the Commission carried out more than 51,000 civic education activities, directly reaching 5.3 million citizens across the country.

Presenting the 2026 Budget Statement to Parliament on Thursday, November 13, Dr Forson explained that the activities were part of a nationwide effort to strengthen social cohesion, prevent violence, and foster dialogue in communities that experienced or were prone to post-election tensions.

He noted that, in addition to the nationwide engagements, the NCCE sensitised close to 20,000 citizens on peacebuilding, equipping them with knowledge and tools to support conflict prevention and resolution within their respective communities.

The Commission also facilitated community dialogues in areas affected by post-election disputes, providing platforms for residents to air concerns and collectively chart a path toward reconciliation.

Dr Forson commended the NCCE for its sustained civic education efforts, emphasising that peace and stability remain essential for economic growth and national development.

He reaffirmed government’s commitment to providing the necessary support to institutions working to safeguard Ghana’s democratic gains.

The minister reiterated that maintaining peace after elections was a shared responsibility and encouraged citizens to continue upholding tolerance, mutual respect, and national unity as the country moves forward.
