NCCE Weija-Gbawe Educates Pupils on Cybersecurity and Responsible Digital Citizenship

The Weija-Gbawe Municipal Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education organised educational engagements for pupils in the Gbawe and Mallam Clusters of Schools as part of the 2026 Citizenship Week Celebration.

Held under the theme, “Growing Up Digital: The Ghanaian Child Upholding the Constitution Online,” the programme sought to promote responsible digital citizenship among school children and deepen their understanding of safe conduct in the digital space.

During the sensitisation sessions, pupils were educated on cybersecurity, cyberbullying prevention, and responsible internet use. Discussions focused on the importance of safeguarding personal information online, recognising cyber threats, and avoiding risky online activities that could compromise their safety and wellbeing.

Learners were also encouraged to use digital platforms responsibly for learning, research, communication, and personal development. Facilitators emphasised the need to respect the rights, privacy, and dignity of others while engaging in online activities.

In addition, participants were advised to refrain from sharing unverified information and to contribute to creating a positive and respectful digital environment. The sessions highlighted the role of young people in promoting responsible online behaviour and upholding the values of the 1992 Constitution in the digital space.

Through the programme, the NCCE reaffirmed its commitment to empowering children with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate the digital world safely, responsibly, and in a manner that contributes to national development.
