Students of Anlo State School have visited the Keta Police Station as part of activities marking the 2026 Citizenship Week Celebration.
Organised by the Keta Municipal Office of the National Commission for Civic Education, the educational tour was held on Thursday, 4th June 2026, under the national theme, “Growing Up Digital: The Ghanaian Child Upholding the Constitution Online.”
Through the visit, the Commission sought to promote responsible digital citizenship among school children while deepening their understanding of state institutions and their role in maintaining law and order.
At the station, the students were warmly received by Chief Inspector Stephen Atidzon, Administrator of the Keta Divisional Police Command. He took the learners through the structure, functions, and operations of the Ghana Police Service, highlighting its mandate to protect lives and property, prevent and detect crime, and maintain peace and security in society.
Chief Inspector Atidzon also educated the students on the growing challenges associated with the digital space and the importance of responsible online behaviour among young people. Issues discussed included cyberbullying, misinformation, digital fraud, hate speech, and other unsafe online practices that could negatively affect individuals and society.
Learners were urged to think critically before sharing information online, respect the rights and dignity of others on social media platforms, and report suspicious online activities to the appropriate authorities. According to him, responsible online conduct is vital for safeguarding both personal safety and national security.
During the interactive session, students had the opportunity to ask questions and gain practical insights into how the Police Service handles cyber-related offences and other criminal activities. They expressed appreciation for the opportunity to visit the station and interact directly with police personnel.
Speaking after the programme, officials of the NCCE noted that Citizenship Week remains an important platform for educating school children on civic responsibilities and constitutional values. They stressed that as digital technology increasingly shapes everyday life, children must be equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to use online platforms responsibly and in line with the laws of Ghana.
By the end of the educational tour, the students pledged to become responsible digital citizens who uphold the values of the 1992 Constitution both offline and online.
