Kwaebibirem NCCE Speaks on the Importance of Child Education

The Kwaebibirem Municipal Director of NCCE, Mrs. Gertrude Adwoa Defoe was invited to grace the 25th anniversary celebration of Nana Appeawiah Memorial Basic School as the Guest speaker. The event took place at Roman Park Kade. She spoke on "The importance of Child Education in our Society".

She defined education as the acquisition of knowledge or skills for a purpose. She then elaborated on the essence of child education:

- It gives children the courage to face life;

- It allows society to raise children with desired values and principles;

- It empowers children to make informed decisions;

- It helps children to think critically to solve problems;

- It sparks research and innovations;

- It breaks the cycle of poverty and inequality;

- It makes children better leaders;

- It gives society peace of mind in the long term as children will grow to be responsible adults.

She however mentioned child labour, child marriage and poor infrastructure as some menace that faces child education in our society.

She finally appealed to the government, educators, learners, parents/family, opinion leaders and the community/society to support child Education and development with all our strength and all our might, as stated in the National Anthem of Ghana.
