NCCE’s Jaman South Engages Youth on Preventing Violent Extremism

The Jaman South Municipal office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) held the second phase of its youth engagement programme on preventing and containing violent extremism in Ghana. The event took place on 5th November 2024 at the Ascension Presbyterian Church in Japekrom, gathering young participants to discuss critical peace-building strategies and community-based mechanisms for countering violent extremism.

The programme covered topics including identifying early warning signs, community surveillance, and basic strategies to counter arms proliferation. Key speakers included District Police Commander SP Sampson and Rev. Michael Atta Darkwah, Chairman of the Inter-Party Dialogue Committee. Their insights aimed to deepen the youth's understanding of social cohesion and proactive peace-building in their communities.
