The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), with support from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), has held a stakeholders’ engagement on adolescent health, gender equality, and the prevention of gender-based violence (GBV) in the Fanteakwa North District.
The meeting, themed “Empowering Community and Youth for Adolescent Health, Gender Equality, and Preventing Gender-Based Violence through Civic Education,” took place on September 18, 2025, at the District Assembly Hall in Begoro.
The session brought together key stakeholders from health, social welfare, law enforcement, civil society, and development organizations to discuss practical ways of improving adolescent health outcomes and strengthening community support systems.
Presentations included:
1. Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention and Community Responses - by the Social Welfare Officer
2. Addressing Myths and Stigma Around Family Planning and Adolescent Health - by the District Health Officer
3. Strengthening Referral Pathways Between Communities and Health Facilities - by Madam Beatrice from World Vision Ghana (Fanteakwa AP)
4. Preventing Gender-Based Violence and Promoting Respectful Relationships - by the District Police Service
5. Enhancing Community Support Systems for Adolescents - by the District Health Officer
Participants also shared their expectations for the meeting, focusing on improving collaboration among institutions, empowering young people with accurate information, and ensuring stronger community ownership of adolescent health and GBV prevention initiatives.
The discussions emphasized collective responsibility, with all partners reaffirming their commitment to creating a safer, healthier, and more inclusive environment for young people in the Fanteakwa North District.
