NCCE Engages Hairdressers on Digital Responsibility, Child Protection and Environmental Care

The Upper East Regional Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has engaged members of the United Hairdressers Association in Bolgatanga on responsible digital citizenship, child protection, and environmental sustainability as part of efforts to promote civic responsibility in the digital age.

The engagement focused on educating participants on the responsible use of digital platforms, the protection of children from online abuse, and the need to adopt environmentally friendly practices in their workplaces and communities.

Program Officers of the Upper East Regional Office cautioned participants against the spread of misinformation and cyberbullying on social media platforms. They urged members of the association to verify information before sharing it online and to use digital platforms responsibly and lawfully.

On child protection, participants were sensitized on the increasing cases of online predatory behavior targeting children. Parents and community members were encouraged to monitor children’s internet activities and promptly report suspected abuse or exploitation to the appropriate authorities.

The program also highlighted environmental responsibility, with facilitators encouraging hairdressers to adopt eco-friendly salon practices such as proper disposal of chemical waste and reducing the use of plastics. The officers explained that such practices align with constitutional provisions that guarantee every citizen the right to a clean and healthy environment.

Members of the United Hairdressers Association pledged to champion the messages shared during the engagement and to promote responsible digital behavior, child protection, and environmental care within their communities and workplaces.
