NCCE Engages Abokobi Dromo Group on Election Ethics and Information Disorder

The NCCE, with support from the European Partnership for Democracy, held an educational session at the Abokobi Women's Centre for the Abokobi Dromo Group, as part of the Women and Youth in Democracy (WYDE) engagements. The session aimed to empower women with knowledge on critical electoral issues, ensuring they play an informed role in democratic processes.

The Director for Communications and Corporate Affairs at NCCE, Ms. Rita Amparbin, led discussions on post-election violence, vote-buying, and the dangers of information disorder, including misinformation, disinformation, and hate speech. She highlighted how deceptive political tactics and the spread of false information can undermine democracy and fuel electoral conflicts. Ms. Amparbin urged the women to be vigilant and reject practices that threaten the integrity of elections.

Participants were encouraged to actively engage in civic duties by promoting peace and demanding accountability from political leaders. The engagement reinforced the importance of informed voting and the role of women in fostering democratic stability. The session concluded with an interactive discussion, where attendees shared concerns and pledged to advocate for ethical electoral practices in their communities.
