The Nandom Municipal office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has organised a social accountability programme for students of Ko Senior High School. The interactive session highlighted ethical leadership and civic responsibility.
Welcoming the participants, Officer-In-Charge of the Nandom Municipal Office of the Commission, Mr. Issahaque T. Angme, underscored the Commission’s constitutional mandate under Article 233(d) of the 1992 Constitution to promote civic awareness and responsible citizenship. He emphasised the strategic importance of youth as emerging leaders and decision-makers.
Mr. Angme added that the programme aims to enhance students’ understanding of transparency, accountability, and respect for the rule of law as vital elements in the fight against corruption.
He further elaborated on the concepts of influence peddling and conflict of interest, cautioning students against compromising their values. The students were encouraged to make a difference by doing the right thing, even if everyone else is doing wrong.
Present was the Chief Inspector of Police, Ankora Enock Delali, who educated students on the meaning, forms, and dangers of corruption. He reminded them that as future leaders, they have a crucial role in deepening Ghana’s democracy. “Exhibit ethical leadership now and in the future,” he urged, stressing that integrity must guide their actions both in school and beyond.
The programme was warmly received by the students, who expressed appreciation for the practical lessons on leadership, accountability, and civic responsibility.
