Voter Education intensified with Faith-Based Organisations

The Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Tema hosted the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) last Sunday to interact with the congregation on their civic duties before, during and after Election 2024.

The Chairperson of the NCCE, Ms. Kathleen Addy, was the special guest speaker. Ms. Addy addressed the congregation on their civic duties, admonishing them to participate actively in the national elections.

Ms. Addy spoke to the church members on NCCE's four key pillars driving civic engagements this year; Money in Politics, Fake News or Misinformation, Religious Tolerance and Electoral Violence. She touched on each one of the four and entreated all citizens to promote peace in all their endeavours.

Ms. Kathleen Addy urged the congregation not to sell their votes, to fact-check information before sharing or forwarding and to respect dissenting religious views.

She also advised the youth not to fall prey to the devices of political actors who incite electoral violence.

Engagement with Faith-Based Organisations is one of the NCCE's strategies used in educating citizens on their civic rights and responsibilities.

Ms. Addy was accompanied by NCCE's Commission Secretary, Mrs. Lucille Hewlett Annan; Deputy Director, Communications and Corporate Affairs, Rita Amparbin and some District officers from the Tema region.
