It has come to the attention of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) that on Saturday, 4rd April, 2020, the comment of a panelist on News File, a current affairs programme on Joy FM was misconstrued by the listening public to suggest that the support of the Church of Pentecost (COP) to NCCE which involves the provision of 12 Cinema Vans for nationwide sensitization on coronavirus (COVID-19) has been withdrawn.
The NCCE wishes to clarify and state emphatically that the support is intact and the Church of Pentecost has not
withdrawn the 12 Cinemas given to the Commission. NCCE further reiterates that, the joint operational team of NCCE and COP are in the field engaging Ghanaians to remain calm; comply with directives under Executive Instruments and the Imposition of Restrictions Act, Act 1012; and verify information on the COVID-19 disease from the Ghana Health Service (GHS) and Ministry of Health (MoH) and the World Health Organisation to avoid being misinformed.
NCCE urges Ghanaians to continue to adhere to all the preventive measures put in place by the Government including social distancing and other safety protocols, stay home during the lockdown period in affected Regions and cooperate with security services in order to contain and curtail the spread of the coronavirus and win the war against the COVID-19 disease. It is the collective actions and responsibilities of all citizens that can ensure that we win this war.
The NCCE takes this opportunity to appeal to other institutions and philanthropists to support the Commission with additional vans and public address systems and fuel and basic safety items to enable it deepen public education, the key to winning this fight, in every nook and cranny of the country.
