Students of schools in the Sekyere Central District have been provided the platform to showcase their intellectual prowess in a debate organised by the office of the Commission in the enclave. This activity was aimed at gauging the understanding of the students regarding elections and the regulations that guide the process.
Boama Kwabi JHS and Glorious Living Word JHS were the participating schools for this event. On the motion, “The Voting Age in Ghana should be Lowered to 16 years old”, students of either faction mounted strong and comprehensive arguments in favour of their stances, be it for or against the motion.
However, at the end of the insightful academic battle, arguments brought to the fore by contestants representing the Boama Kwabi JHS appeared more convincing and weightier than those by their competitors, hence emerging as winners of the exciting and educative programme.
Meanwhile, the students present at the event were admonished to uphold the value of patriotism by showing keen interest in the affairs of the country, from its governance to seeking accountability from leadership.
Contestants were presented with certificates and other stationery as prizes for their participation. They expressed gratitude to the staff of the Sekyere Central District Office of the NCCE for the opportunity to learn, enabling them to grow into responsible adults with undiluted love for our dear country, Ghana.
