The Yendi Municipal Office of the NCCE has carried out a sensitisation campaign on tax compliance, child protection, and peaceful coexistence as part of its third-quarter activities. The outreach, supported by student interns from the University for Development Studies (UDS) on practicum, targeted tricycle operators, youth groups, and market women across the municipality. During the engagement, staff of the Commission underscored the importance of tax compliance as a civic duty essential for national development, reminding participants that taxes fund critical social amenities such as schools, roads, and health facilities.
Participants were also sensitised on child protection, with emphasis on safeguarding the rights of children, eliminating harmful practices such as child labour and early marriage, and supporting child education. On peaceful coexistence, the Commission encouraged tolerance, unity, and dialogue as means of sustaining harmony in the diverse municipality. The Municipal Director of NCCE, Mr. Osman Kassim, commended participants for their active involvement and reiterated that promoting peace and protecting children’s rights remain a shared responsibility. The campaign forms part of the Commission’s broader efforts to entrench democratic values, strengthen social cohesion, and nurture responsible citizenship in Yendi.
