NCCE SENSITIZES BAWKU YOUTH ON ARTICLE 41 OF THE 1992 CONSTITUTION

The Bawku Municipal Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) as part of its civic education activities has engaged Basic and Senior High Schools in the Bawku Municipality of the Upper East Region on Article 41 of the 1992 Constitution, the COVID-19 Delta Variant and COVID-19 safety protocols.

The exercise forms part of the Commission’s activities which seek to educate Ghanaians especially the youth on the 1992 Constitution and other matters of public concern. It is hoped that the students will, in turn, educate their parents and others who have not had the benefit of formal education.

Mr. Daniel Baya Laar, the Municipal Director, called on the students to perform their duties under Article 41 and adhere to the COVID-19 safety protocols. “As citizens, we must know that it is our responsibility to know and perform our duties as stated in Article 41(a)-(k) of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana”, he reiterated.

Mr. Carlven Avaba-ngaang Afelik, Assistant Civic Education Officer (ACEO) avidly stated that civic education in schools falls within the Commission’s revered philosophy of ‘catch them young’ to inculcate in the youth the democratic and constitutional culture of Ghana. Mr. Afelik indicated that the Commission adopted this strategy to ensure that all students at all levels of education in Ghana realized their significant role in the consolidation of democracy in Ghana.

Ms. Munira Yussif, a volunteer with the office, was encouraged to stay strong and comply with all the COVID-19 safety protocols. She urged them to always wear their face masks in public, wash their hands with soap under running water for 30 seconds, and use an alcohol-based hand sanitiser frequently.
