NCCE Fanteakwa South Engages Market Women on Tax Compliance

The NCCE office in the Fanteakwa South District has carried out a community sensitisation exercise at the Ehiamenkyene market to encourage tax compliance and civic responsibility among market women. The outreach, led by the District Director, Mr. Kwadwo Adu-Asare, stressed on the need to fulfil tax obligations such as market tolls. He added that these tolls are used to fund local development projects in infrastructure, healthcare, education, and security. Supporting him were Mr. Patrick Addo and Mr. Richard Annor, both staff of the NCCE District office, who explained that cooperating with revenue collectors is essential for sustaining district development and ensuring public services reach all citizens.

The market women warmly welcomed the initiative and expressed gratitude for the Commission’s efforts. The team emphasised that paying taxes is not only a legal obligation but also a civic duty that helps promote transparency and accountability in governance. The engagement reflected the NCCE’s ongoing commitment to empowering citizens through education on their rights and responsibilities by strengthening civic awareness and participation. The Commission aims to foster a more informed and development-conscious community through such public education activities.
