NCCE East Gonja-Salaga Engages Salaga Technical Institute on Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption

The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), East Gonja-Salaga, has organised a civic education programme for students of Salaga Technical Institute aimed at promoting the rule of law and the fight against corruption in Ghana.

The engagement, held on 14th May, 2026, at the school’s Assembly Hall, brought together students, staff, and other stakeholders to discuss civic responsibility, respect for the law, accountability, and national development.

Facilitating the programme were the Municipal Director of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), Mr. Ikujon Moses, and the Municipal Director of the NCCE, Mr. Iddrisu Abdul-Latif. The two speakers took turns to educate the students on their roles as citizens and the need to uphold the values that strengthen Ghana’s democratic governance.

They encouraged the students to respect the laws of the country, uphold integrity in their daily lives, and actively support efforts aimed at promoting accountability and transparency. They stressed that the rule of law remains essential to peace, justice, and orderly national development.

The speakers also noted that corruption continues to be a major obstacle to Ghana’s progress, as it weakens public trust, affects service delivery, and deprives communities of the benefits of development. They therefore urged the students to reject corrupt practices and become agents of positive change rather than passive critics of societal challenges.

Mr. Moses encouraged the students to report acts of corruption and injustice through the appropriate institutions, while Mr. Abdul-Latif reminded them that responsible citizenship begins with discipline, honesty, respect for authority, and commitment to the national interest.

The programme ended with a call on students to demonstrate responsible citizenship, promote integrity among their peers, respect the rule of law, and contribute meaningfully to national development.
