As part of the 2026 Constitution Week Celebration, the Ga West Municipal Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) engaged the public through a civic education program held on Friday, 22nd May 2026, at Atinka TV.
The program formed part of activities marking the celebration under the theme, “Upholding Our Constitution in the Digital Age: Our Collective Responsibility.” The engagement focused on educating the public on responsible digital citizenship and the need to protect Ghana’s democratic values in the online space.
Speaking during the program, the Municipal Director of the Ga West Directorate of the NCCE, Mrs. Edith Akpene Awudor, highlighted the growing dangers of misinformation, disinformation, cybercrime, digital fraud, and online abuse. She explained that the rapid spread of false information on digital platforms poses a serious threat to national unity, peace, and democratic governance if citizens fail to verify information before sharing.
Mrs. Awudor urged the public to make responsible use of social media and other digital platforms by respecting the rights of others and adhering to the laws of Ghana. She encouraged citizens to become active defenders of the 1992 Constitution by promoting truth, tolerance, accountability, and responsible online behavior.
The program also provided participants with the opportunity to ask questions and share concerns on cyber-related issues affecting society.
The engagement forms part of the NCCE’s broader mandate to educate citizens on their civic responsibilities and deepen democratic participation in Ghana.
