NCCE and Fidelity Bank Promote Environmental Protection through Art and Culture in Moree

The Central Regional Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), with support from Fidelity Bank Ghana, hosted a CivicFest at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Moree to raise awareness on environmental protection and responsible waste management. Participating schools, Moree D/A Basic, Moree Catholic Basic A/B, and Moree Methodist A Basic/JHS, showcased impressive creativity through drama, traditional dance, poetry, and innovative artworks made from plastic waste materials.

Speaking at the event, the Central Regional Director of the NCCE, Mrs. Mercy Essien, praised the students for their ingenuity and passion for environmental sustainability. She emphasized the importance of instilling environmental consciousness in young people, adding that “education goes beyond the classroom; it is about shaping responsible citizens who protect the environment and contribute meaningfully to national development.”

Mrs. Essien also commended the efforts of parents, teachers, and the media for supporting such educational and civic initiatives. She urged parents to nurture in their children a sense of responsibility and discipline towards keeping their surroundings clean. She further encouraged media institutions to continue highlighting environmental issues and promoting civic values through their platforms.

The event, which formed part of the NCCE’s partnership activities with Fidelity Bank Ghana, underscored the importance of recycling, reducing plastic waste, and using resources wisely. Mrs. Essien expressed appreciation to Fidelity Bank Ghana for its continuous support in promoting civic education, environmental awareness, and community engagement across the region.
