The Ahanta West Municipal Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has organized an institutional visit for members of its Civic Education Clubs to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) in the municipality. The delegation, made up of 20 students from Agona M/A JHS ‘A’, Agona M/A JHS ‘B’, and Agona Model Girls JHS, participated in the exercise as part of the Commission’s flagship activities aimed at exposing students to the operations of key public institutions and deepening their understanding of civic responsibility.
On behalf of the GNFS, Station Officer II Augustine Nkrumah led the students through a brief history of the Service, conducted a tour of the station, and explained the equipment and procedures used in responding to fire outbreaks. He emphasized the mandate of the GNFS under Act 537 of 1997, which includes fire prevention and management, protection of life and property, and provision of technical advice on fire safety, among other responsibilities.
