To mark the 2025 World Environment Day, the Jaman South Municipal office of the NCCE joined pupils and teachers from Japekrom Presby Basic School and Islamic Basic School to commemorate the day under the theme, “Ending Plastic Use – Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.” The event aimed to raise awareness among young learners about environmental protection and featured educational activities, creative projects, and insightful presentations on plastic waste reduction. The Municipal Director, Mr. Emmanuel Oduro, welcomed participants and highlighted the significance of World Environment Day as a United Nation initiative calling for global environmental responsibility. He encouraged the pupils to contribute to a plastic-free environment through responsible habits.
Rev. Michael Attah Darkwah, District Minister of the Ascension Presbyterian Church and Chairman of the Jaman South Inter-Party Dialogue Committee, engaged the pupils on practical ways to reduce plastic use and urged them to become ambassadors of change in their homes and communities. The pupils showcased their creativity through poetry recitals and took part in a "pick and act" contest to demonstrate their understanding of plastic pollution. The event ended with a collective pledge from the pupils to be environmentally conscious by reducing, reusing, and recycling plastic while committing to spread awareness within their communities.
