The Ga South Municipal Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has engaged pupils of Ayikuma M/A Basic School in a thought-provoking session on the role of children in safeguarding Ghana’s environment for the future.
The outreach was hinged on the theme “Ghana’s Future: The Role of a Child in Protecting the Environment,” as part of the Commission’s endeavours to instill civic responsibility and environmental consciousness among young Ghanaians.
An officer of the Commission, Mr. Abraham Amankwah Adjei, emphasized that environmental conservation is not only a national priority but a shared responsibility that begins with the youth. He urged the pupils to adopt eco-friendly habits and recognize the long-term impact of their daily actions on Ghana’s development.
The session underscored the importance of preserving natural resources to ensure a sustainable future for Ghana. Pupils were thus encouraged to think critically about environmental challenges and propose practical solutions.
“Protecting our environment is protecting our future,” Mr. Adjei noted, admonishing the students to be mindful of waste disposal, tree planting, and water conservation.
The interactive session saw enthusiastic participation from the pupils, who shared ideas on how they could contribute to environmental protection in their homes and communities.
The NCCE continues to prioritize youth engagement as a cornerstone of its civic education mandate, recognizing that empowering children today lays the foundation for responsible citizenship tomorrow.
