The National Commission for Civic Education’s Deputy Chairman in charge of Operations, Mr. Samuel Asare Akuamoah, has encouraged women, particularly young girls, to remain determined and ambitious despite the social, economic, religious, or political challenges they may face. Speaking during the Annual Civic Festival at Aburi Girls’ Senior High School, he questioned whether the young girls wished to remain on the sidelines of life and challenged them to rise and take their place in society. He further stressed that empowering women should be a collective responsibility and noted that the passage of the Affirmative Action Bill into law would serve as a powerful tool for women’s advancement. He called on men to support and encourage women in their journey to leadership and self-development.
The Eastern Regional Director of the Commission, Madam Ophelia Ankrah, advised students to maintain discipline and responsible behavior as they work toward achieving their goals. She underscored that success in life requires a strong foundation of hard work and integrity. Her message was directed at inspiring students to take charge of their personal growth while upholding civic values that contribute to national development.
Mr. David Kamolo Tetteh, Patron of the Civic Education Club at Aburi Girls’ SHS, expressed appreciation to the NCCE for organizing the Civic Festival. He highlighted the significance of the event in nurturing patriotism, leadership, and a sense of civic duty among the youth. As part of the event, outstanding members and patrons of the Civic Education Club were recognized and awarded for their dedication. The Commission also donated copies of the 1992 Constitution to the Club to support civic learning and promote constitutional literacy among students.
