Community Partner’s Fund: A New Era of Partnership, Innovation, and Shared Responsibility towards Grassroot Development – NCCE Chair

Chairperson of the National Commission for Civic Education, Ms. Kathleen Addy, has commended the government for institutionalising the Community Partner’s Fund, describing it as a new era of partnership, innovation, and shared civic responsibility towards development at the district level. She made this statement during the launch of the Fund, under the auspices of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF).

In her address, Ms. Addy indicated that the Community Partner’s Fund sets the tone for the citizenry to own the development of their communities, providing a channel for well-meaning individuals and businesses interested in nation-building to contribute their quota, adding that it is a call to civic responsibility to accelerate development. “At the heart of every thriving nation lies the shared understanding that development is not the duty of government alone”, she emphasised.

The Chairperson further intimated that the NCCE, as an institution, remains committed to any course aimed at catapulting the country to higher heights, suggesting that the DACF and the various Metropolitan/Municipal/District Chief Executives (MMDCE’s) can collaborate with the Commission in ensuring that adequate public education is carried out for the citizens to appreciate the initiative better to stimulate the necessary action.

The Community Partner’s Fund is a community-driven financing initiative designed to empower citizens, corporate bodies, and the Ghanaian diaspora to play a direct role in advancing local development. It is envisaged to trigger patriotism through citizens’ investment in community development projects across all districts, serving as a new avenue for individuals and organisations to actively participate and contribute to nation-building.

The event took place at the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra, assembling various MMDCE’s, Regional Ministers, members of parliament, heads of businesses and organisations, and other national development stakeholders and partners.
