Birim North NCCE Promotes Civic Values among Afosu Islamic JHS Students

The Birim North District Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has engaged students of Afosu Islamic Junior High School as part of its Civic Education Club (CEC) activities, reinforcing Ghana’s civic values and the urgent need for environmental stewardship.

Facilitating the session was Mad. Ophelia Orko-Odoi, who is a staff of the Office. Her presentation touched on patriotism, tolerance, discipline, and other civic virtues, with a strong emphasis on environmental hygiene. She cautioned the pupils against the dangers of illegal mining, urging them to focus on their studies and contribute positively to national development.

“Protecting our environment is protecting our future,” Mad. Orko-Odoi stressed, highlighting the destructive impact of galamsey on communities and the nation’s resources. She encouraged the students to become ambassadors of cleanliness and responsibility within their school and community.

Reacting to this, the pupils pledged to keep their surroundings clean and safe at all times, demonstrating their commitment to the values shared. The session concluded with a stirring call to action from the facilitator, “Ghana needs you. Let’s rise together and build a better future.”
