The Jaman South Office of the National Commission for Civic Education has marked its Constitution Week Celebration activities with a series of engagements involving students from Our Lady of Providence Girls, Kwasibourkrom, and Hadaayah Senior High Schools.
In his address underpinned by the theme, “Ghana’s Future: Our Collective Responsibility”, Mr. Emmanuel Oduro, who is the Director of the Jaman South Municipal Office, explained the essence of the celebration as a commemoration of Ghana’s return to democracy and constitutional rule.
He further stated that in seeking a bright future for Ghana, every individual, irrespective of his/her background, ought to contribute to building a better future for the present generation and the ones to come. “This is our civic responsibility, and we cannot afford to fail ourselves and the generation ahead”, Mr. Oduro opined.
Touching on unity and tolerance, the Municipal Director highlighted the diversity of the country’s population, stating that Ghana is a tapestry of ethnicities, religions, and cultures; hence, our collective responsibility is to celebrate and respect these differences in order to enhance the economic and social development of our nation.
The Constitution Week Celebration aims to provide a platform for a moment to dive into some provisions of the 1992 Constitution of the Republic of Ghana, how well it has served the citizenry, and to remind us of our core duty to protect and defend this legal framework at all times.
