Awudua R/C CEC Crowned Champions in Maiden NCCE Debate Competition

The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Prestea Huni-Valley Municipal Office, has successfully organized its maiden Civic Education Clubs (CEC) Debate Competition for schools within the Awudua Circuit, with Awudua R/C CEC emerging as the winners of the contest.

The grand finale, held at the Samahu Community Centre on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, brought together four finalist schools, namely Awudua R/C CEC, Christ Way International CEC, Deeper Life Basic CEC, and God’s Gift Preparatory CEC.

The competition formed part of the NCCE’s civic education program aimed at promoting critical thinking, public speaking, teamwork, and active citizenship among pupils. Contestants debated on topical issues affecting education and national development, displaying impressive research skills, confidence, and eloquence throughout the competition.

At the end of the keenly contested event, Awudua R/C CEC was crowned champions, while the other participating schools also received recognition for their outstanding performances.

Awards presented during the program included a trophy, copies of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana, exercise books, and pens to encourage reading, civic awareness, and academic excellence among pupils. The winning school received the coveted trophy, while all finalist schools and contestants were honored for their dedication and efforts throughout the competition.

Speaking at the event, the Municipal Director of the NCCE, Mr. Kwesi Kuntu Blankson, expressed appreciation to INTERTEK Minerals Limited for partnering with the Commission for the second consecutive year to support educational activities within the municipality.

He noted that the company’s commitment to education and youth development had contributed significantly to the success of the program and expressed optimism that the partnership would continue in future educational activities, including quiz and debate competitions next year.

Mr. Blankson also commended the staff of the Municipal NCCE Office for their dedication, commitment, and sacrifices, including the use of personal resources, which ensured the successful organization of the competition.

The event ended with the presentation of awards and certificates amidst cheers from teachers, pupils, parents, and community members who attended the program.

The NCCE reiterated its commitment to empowering young people with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to become responsible and active citizens for national development.
