Tema Metro NCCE Observes World Environment Day with Quiz Competition

The Tema Metro office of the NCCE observed World Environment Day with a quiz competition on the theme “Ending Plastic Pollution”. The event, held at Manhean TMA ‘1’ JHS, brought together five basic schools in the Tema East constituency: Manhean TMA ‘1’ JHS, Amen Basic JHS, El-Shadai JHS, St. Peter’s R/C JHS, and Adjetey Ansah JHS. Madam Gifty Agyeiwaa Badu, NCCE’s Tema Metro Director, underscored the importance of the 3Rs—Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle—as part of the national and global efforts to combat plastic waste and align with Sustainable Development Goal 6 and Article 41 of Ghana’s 1992 Constitution.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Wisdom Aditsey, the Metropolitan Environmental Health Director, emphasised the urgent need for responsible waste management to prevent environmental degradation and health hazards. He called on students to be ambassadors of environmental consciousness in their communities. The quiz ended with Manhean TMA ‘1’ JHS emerging winners, followed by Amen Basic JHS and St. Peter’s R/C JHS placing second and third, respectively. Participants, including students, teachers, and officials, left the event inspired to adopt sustainable practices and actively contribute to environmental protection.
