Tano South NCCE Engages Community Groups on Civic Duties and Responsibilities

The Tano South Municipal Directorate of the NCCE marked the 2025 Annual Constitution Week by undertaking a wide range of public sensitisation programmes with identifiable groups, including tailors, beauticians, local savings groups, and community associations across towns like Bechem, Techimantia, and Nyinasua. The engagements centred around the Commission's 2025 theme, "Ghana's Future: Our Collective Responsibility", with staff emphasising on the importance of civic duties outlined in Article 41 of the 1992 Constitution. Participants were urged to uphold values such as respect for public property, payment of taxes, peaceful coexistence, and active community involvement.

Participants raised concerns over the declining trust in public institutions and the lack of accountability among those in authority. Residents of Mansopa, in particular, expressed fear over the rise of vigilante activities linked to nearby mining operations. Despite these concerns, the discussions were welcomed, with many applauding the NCCE for promoting civic consciousness at a time when dissatisfaction with democratic governance and misplaced nostalgia for military regimes are on the rise.
