TAKE MESSAGES DELIVERED TO YOU SERIOUSLY AND PRACTICE THEM: NCCE SISSALA EAST MUNICIPAL URGES PUPILS

The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Sissala East district has engaged students of basic schools in the Municipality as part of the Commission’s flagship programme, the 2023 Annual Citizenship Week Celebration. The Annual Citizenship Week aims at instilling good citizenship in school-going children. The theme for this year’s celebration is “30 Years of Consolidating Constitutional Democracy and Building National Cohesion: The Role of the Ghanaian Child”.

The Municipal office of the Commission in collaboration with resource persons drawn from other institutions who have good reputations visited thirty-one (31) basic schools. Over one thousand five hundred and forty-seven (1,547) males and one thousand seven hundred and ninety-seven (1,797) females totaling three thousand three hundred and forty-four (3,344) pupils were reached out. Major topics treated included; promoting national values, attitudinal change, patriotism, trust, the pursuit of excellence, and discipline.

Also, Mr. Hussein Elyasu, the Municipal Director of the NCCE informed the pupils of the Commission’s activities. Further, he reiterated the need for the pupils to take messages delivered to them seriously and practice them.

The general mood of pupils during the weeklong celebration was filled with excitement. The schools, therefore, requested the NCCE to hold regular engagements on national and civic issues to help shape their lives to be good citizens.

Concluding, the resource persons admonished the pupils to study hard to become better people in the future and not a burden to society.
