Promoting peaceful elections: A collective responsibility

The District Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in Fanteakwa South District - Osino has reignited the Inter-Party Dialogue Committee (IPDC) to ensure peaceful elections in this year’s upcoming elections.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Kwadwo Adu-Asare, District Director of NCCE, emphasized the need for all stakeholders to desist from monetization in politics, disinformation, and misinformation to ensure a peaceful electoral process.

The District Police Commander, DSP Mahama Iddrisu, urged all political parties to adhere to and respect the Public Order Act and comply with electoral regulations.

The District Electoral Officer addressed electoral violence and its related penalties under the law.

A new set of committee members was inaugurated to steer the affairs of the committee. The newly elected Chair of the Inter-Party Dialogue Committee, Mr. Dickson Odame, urged all stakeholders to prioritize peaceful elections.

As part of promoting peace, a communiqué was signed by political parties present, except the National Democratic Congress (NDC), which failed to sign due to reasons beyond their control.

The program which start at 9:23am on 3rd of September 2024, was successfully brought to a close at 12:45 pm.
