NCCE’s Constitution Week's engagement with the Ghana Armed Forces that took place at the Burma Camp in Accra

NCCE’s Constitution Week's engagement with the Ghana Armed Forces took place yesterday at the Burma Camp in Accra. Deputy Chairman in charge of Operations at NCCE, Mr. Samuel Asare Akuamoah interacting with the officers at the Burma Hall, appealed to the military to exercise restraint when dealing with provocations by civilians.

He made a similar appeal to the civilian community to desist from engaging in activities that will put them in a direct confrontation with military officers. Brigadier General Michael Opoku from the Ghana Armed Forces spoke about unfair treatment from the media and the public urging the media to be fair in their reportage with regard to military-civilian confrontation.

Brigadier General Opoku added that the military will abide by the dictates of the 1992 Constitution and be committed to protecting the country from external attacks. Deputy Chairman, Finance and Administration, Lawyer Victor Brobbey was at the event. The Constitution Week celebration is one of the flagship programmes instituted in 2001 by the NCCE to commemorate the country's return to democratic rule.
