Ga Central Municipal Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) engaged members of the Landlords Association at Mount Olive Assembly, The Church of Pentecost, Anyaa, on Ratepayer Obligations.
The programme sought to educate landlords and residents on their civic responsibilities, particularly the payment of property rates, basic rates, business operating permits, fees and fines, as well as compliance with Assembly by-laws.
The activity forms part of efforts to support the Ga Central Municipal Assembly in improving Internally Generated Funds (IGF) for local development and the provision of essential services within the municipality.
The Municipal Director, Miss Mary Dagbah, educated participants on the importance of paying property rates and other statutory levies. She explained that revenue mobilized by the Assembly is used to undertake development projects such as road maintenance, sanitation management, drainage construction, street lighting, and other social services that benefit the community.
She further encouraged landlords and property owners to honor their obligations as responsible citizens and comply with Assembly by-laws to promote orderliness and development. Miss Dagbah emphasised that voluntary compliance with tax and rate payments would enable the Assembly to generate adequate resources to address the developmental needs of the municipality.
She concluded by urging participants to support the Assembly's revenue mobilisation efforts, stressing that community development is a shared responsibility and that every citizen has a role to play in building a better Ga Central Municipality.
