NCCE Sensitizes Church of Pentecost Members on Anti-Corruption Measures

The Oyibi Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has organized a sensitization program for members of the Church of Pentecost on the National Anti-Corruption Action Plan (NACAP), aimed at promoting integrity, transparency, and accountability in society.

The engagement educated church members on the effects of corruption and the important role citizens play in combating corrupt practices. Officials from the Commission explained that the objectives of NACAP include preventing corruption, strengthening investigation and prosecution systems, and promoting transparency and accountability among citizens.

During the program, participants were reminded of the provisions of Chapter Six, Article 35(8) of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana, which mandates the State to eliminate corruption and the abuse of power. The facilitators stressed that fighting corruption is a collective responsibility that requires the active involvement of all citizens.

Biblical principles were also used to reinforce the message of integrity and honesty. Scriptures including Proverbs 11:3, “The integrity of the upright guides them,” and Luke 16:10, “Whoever is faithful in little will also be faithful in much,” were cited to encourage members to uphold ethical values in their daily activities.

Furthermore, church members were encouraged to refuse bribes, follow due process, and report acts of wrongdoing. Discussions also focused on whistleblower protection, asset declaration, and transparent procurement practices as essential tools in the fight against corruption.

The NCCE urged participants to become ambassadors of integrity within their communities and workplaces to help build a corruption-free society.

In his concluding remarks, the Head Pastor, Rev. Owusu, expressed appreciation to the Commission for what he described as a timely and impactful engagement. He also encouraged members of the church to practice honesty and integrity in all aspects of their lives.
