The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has hosted a delegation from the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) to strengthen collaboration on the Support to Human Rights, Gender Equality and Civil Society – S(HE) Project.
The project, commissioned by GIZ, aims to promote gender equality, human rights, and women's empowerment, while strengthening existing complaint mechanisms.
Providing an overview, Project Technical Advisor, Martha Ofori, noted that in 2025, over 400 NCCE and CHRAJ staff were trained, with activities spanning all 16 regions on Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) and child rights. Key focus areas included child rights in the digital space and gender-transformative approaches. She added that the GIZ, for 2026, seeks to prioritise intensified public education on discrimination, joint community sensitisation, a revised gender strategy, and a child safety policy.
Director for Programmes at the NCCE, Dr. Imurana Mohammed, emphasised the engagement of Civic Education Club (CEC) patrons to sustain impact, a position supported by Director, Communications and Corporate Affairs, Rita Amparbin.
Commending the Commission for its active role in the S(HE) project, Dörte Diallo, who is the Director of the Project, particularly highlighted the contribution of trained staff who continue to serve as facilitators. She reaffirmed GIZ’s commitment to strengthening its collaboration with the Commission.
In a closing remark, the NCCE’s Deputy Chairman, General Services, who also doubled as the chair of the meeting, Mr. Victor Brobbey, expressed appreciation to GIZ for its continued support and reiterated the NCCE’s readiness to deepen collaboration towards advancing human rights, gender equality, and civic education in Ghana.
