NCCE Engages Anloga Market Community on Adolescent Health, Gender Equality and GBV Prevention

The Anloga District Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), on 8th June 2026, engaged market men and women at the Anloga District Assembly Hall in a sensitization programme on adolescent health, gender equality, and the prevention of Gender-Based Violence (GBV).

The engagement was held under the theme: “Promoting Adolescent Health, Gender Equality, and Preventing Gender-Based Violence through Civic Engagement.”

The programme formed part of efforts to strengthen public awareness and encourage community participation in addressing issues affecting adolescents, while promoting peaceful, inclusive and supportive communities.

Participants were taken through discussions on adolescent health and development, with emphasis on the need to create safe and supportive environments that enable young people to make informed and responsible life choices.

The Anloga District Director of the NCCE, Togbi Hatsu III, highlighted the importance of promoting gender equality and ensuring equal opportunities, dignity and respect for all persons, regardless of gender.

He noted that Gender-Based Violence remains a major social concern with far-reaching consequences for individuals, families and communities. He therefore encouraged market men and women to recognize early signs of abuse, challenge harmful cultural practices and support efforts aimed at protecting vulnerable persons, especially adolescents.

Togbi Hatsu III further emphasized the role of civic responsibility and community action in preventing violence and promoting positive behavioural change. He urged participants to become ambassadors of change within their homes, workplaces and communities by promoting respect, dialogue and healthy relationships.

The interactive session created an opportunity for participants to share experiences and identify practical actions that can help reduce harmful practices and advance adolescent sexual and reproductive health and rights.

Togbi Hatsu III reaffirmed that sustainable development requires collective responsibility and active citizen participation in promoting adolescent well-being, gender equality, and a violence-free society.

The activity was implemented by the NCCE in collaboration with UNFPA, with funding support from Global Affairs Canada.
