NCCE and SOS Children’s Villages Partner to Strengthen Child Protection in Ghana

The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has entered into a strategic partnership with SOS Children’s Villages Ghana to advance child rights and protection across the country.

The partnership, anchored by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marks a significant milestone in the national effort to safeguard children from abuse and promote their holistic development through civic education and advocacy.

The Chairperson of the NCCE, Ms. Kathleen Addy, lauded SOS Children’s Villages for its unwavering commitment to child welfare and emphasized the urgency of collective action in addressing child and human rights violations.

“The existence of the state is under threat if our children are not safe, free from abuse and violence, and provided with an environment where they can achieve their full potential,” Ms. Addy stated, adding that the partnership falls squarely within the mandate of the NCCE.

Meanwhile, the National Director of SOS Children’s Villages Ghana, Mr. Alex Kekula, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, noting that it would amplify the organization’s reach and impact in protecting vulnerable children and promoting their rights.

The MoU outlines a framework for joint initiatives in public education, community outreach, and stakeholder engagement, with a focus on creating safe, nurturing environments for children across Ghana.

In his closing remarks, Deputy Chairman in charge of Operations at the NCCE, Mr. Samuel Akuamoah, highlighted the essence of the collaboration and called on both institutions to work diligently to secure the future of Ghanaian children.

The partnership is expected to catalyze nationwide efforts in civic education and child protection, reinforcing Ghana’s commitment to upholding the rights and dignity of every child.
