The Akatsi South Directorate of the NCCE, this year has resolved to involve the over one hundred and thirty basic schools in the district in the Celebration of 2018 Citizenship Week which is a flagship programme of the Commission. With the support of the Akatsi South Directorate of Education, headteachers, and teachers, and our volunteer resource persons (Mentors), a total of forty primary and Junior High Schools were reached in the Wlitey, Gornikofe, Avenorpedo, and Avenorpeme Circuit.
The NCCE’s broad theme for 2018 is “Our Nation, Our Heritage: ConsolidatingGhana’s Democratic Gains”.The sub-theme for this year’sCitizenship Week Celebration is “Our Taxes Build a Great Ghana”.
The District Director, Rev. Vincent Adzika, said the Commission’s agenda is for school children to join in the awareness raising campaign on tax compliance and also to inculcate in them the culture of taxpaying as they grow to become responsible adults.
Madam Akorlor J. Happy sensitized pupils of Akuave E.P Primary School and Bayive R.C. Basic School. She said great nations were built through the payment of taxes. She urged Ghanaians to honour their tax obligation.
