The NCCE Adentan Municipal Office, in collaboration with Mercy Islamic Junior High School (JHS), Adenta-Lakeside, successfully organised an educational excursion for members of the Mercy Islamic JHS Civic Education Club (CEC). The visit formed part of NCCE’s ongoing efforts to promote civic consciousness and practical learning among young students.
The excursion began at the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park (KNMP), where pupils and their teachers were warmly received by the park’s staff. Participants were taken on a guided tour of the facility and exposed to rich historical narratives on Ghana’s independence struggle, the life and legacy of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Pan-Africanism, leadership, and national heritage. Through the exhibits, artifacts, personal belongings, and the mausoleum of Dr. Nkrumah, students gained first-hand insight into Ghana’s history and the vision of African unity, effectively linking classroom lessons to real-life national monuments and inspiring a sense of patriotism.
The second and final stop was the Parliament House of Ghana, where officials of the Parliamentary Service warmly welcomed the pupils and teachers. The students were educated on parliamentary protocols, including the dos and don’ts within the Chamber, and were introduced to the workings of the Legislature.
A major highlight of the visit was an interactive session with the Member of Parliament for the Adentan Constituency, Hon. Mohammed Adamu Ramadan. The Honourable Member engaged the students and teachers, explaining the structure and functions of Parliament, the law-making process, and the critical role Members of Parliament play in national development.
Overall, the educational visit sought to deepen students’ understanding of Ghana’s democratic governance and parliamentary processes while nurturing their interest in civic responsibility. The experience was designed to inspire the young learners to grow into informed, active, and responsible citizens committed to the nation’s democratic ideals.
