The Central Regional Director of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Mr. Robert Ekow Ewur has engaged first-time voters in the Cape Coast Metropolis where he admonished them to exercise their franchise in the impending December 7, 2024 Elections.
Mr. Ewur, in his talk, outlined that Article 42 of the 1992 Constitution of the Republic of Ghana enjoins every citizen eighteen (18) years and above and of sound mind to participate in the electoral process of choosing leaders to man the affairs of the State. He further added that this right must also be deemed as a civic responsibility of any citizen who seeks the well-being of the country.
In a demonstration, the Director took the participants through the voting procedures, from the features to look out for on the ballot paper through to how to correctly fold same before dropping it in the ballot box. “If you take lightly the voting processes, you may end up wasting your ballot, as the least flaw could result in a rejection of your ballot," he advised.
Mr. Robert Ekow Ewur also encouraged them to be ambassadors of the voter education received, urging them to make it dominant in their conversations with their families and friends, as that would be their quota in the advocacy towards augmenting the numbers that turn up to vote.
