NATIONAL PRAYER AND THANKSGIVING SERVICE

The Gomoa East District took the National prayer and thanksgiving service to African Faith Tabernacle Church, Ojobi, the place of worship for the DCE, Hon Margaret Naana Ackom.

The event, held on 1st July, started with worship, praise, and a brief welcome address delivered by Rev. Robert Afraku.

The District Director for NCCE, Mr Charles Paintsil, was introduced and given the platform to educate the congregation. Introducing the theme " Resetting our values to build the Ghana we want", he encouraged Ghanaians to change their attitude and ways and be Patriotic Citizens. He admonished all to participate in developmental activities in their communities. He advised members present to reduce sand winning to minimise, if not avoid, flooding.

Some Members and a few staff of the District Assembly, members of the local council of churches, traditional leaders, and community members were present to grace the occasion.

Mr. Serlom Tibu, the District Coordinating Director, stated the Purpose of the gathering, followed by Nana Atta Kakra VI (Odikro of Ojobi)'s acknowledgement of the invitation and initiative. He prayed for God's continued blessings for all levels of leaders to continue the good work of governance. He stressed on the urgent need to reset our values for the National growth agenda. Nana attended in the company of Nana Oboy IV, the "abusua panin of the chief," and Okyeame Kofi Adu.

As it is a Christian gathering, there was a scripture reading from Proverbs 23:23-25 by the Church Secretary, next, an exhortation by Ps. Nyarko of the Church. He stressed on upholding honesty at all times and tolerance. He made a call to all Pastors present to carry on the message in their Churches.

Hon. Naana Margaret Ackom began with the phrase, "what Mahama cannot do, does not exist" when presented with the opportunity to speak. She highlighted all the activities and initiatives of the President's administration, with the "Mahama Care" initiative as the Icing. This initiative, according to her, is purposed to cater for patients with chronic health issues. She highlighted ongoing projects like the 24hr economy market and opened applications available for support towards pwd's and the call for applicants.

The peak and memorable moment of all was when Reverend ministers took turns to lead the prayer session. This session lasted for twenty (20) minutes and ended the occasion.

The beauty of the occasion was seen in the unity amongst members of the clergy despite representing varied denominations and the shared roles played to ensure a smooth service. The place was lively with spiritual tunes from the Church's music team, and the traditional leaders present could not help but join in, moving smoothly to the melody. The DCE was not left out, displaying her musical steps and love for her place of worship. The audience equally moved to the tunes and participated fully in all activities. The Ghana Police Service was present to ensure that the occasion ended in peace.
