The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), in collaboration with the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) and with support of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für InternationaleZusammenarbeit (GIZ), is implementing the Support for Human Rights, Gender Equality and Civil Society S(HE) Project. The project is designed to advance Gender Equality, Transformative Approaches, and Children's Rights in the Digital Space.
The ultimate objective of the project is to safeguard the rights of children online and protect survivors of discrimination, sexual and gender based violence.
With the view to ensuring smooth and successful implementation of the project the partner institutions are organizing a five-day intensive training program to build the capacity of fifty (50) selected staff of NCCE and CHRAJ drawn from the Ahafo, Bono and Bono East Regions on Gender Equality, Transformative Approaches, and Children's Rights in the Digital Space. The trainees are expected to support with public awareness campaigns to be carried out following the training program.
The five Days workshop was officially opened on the evening of October 14, 2025 at the Eusbett Hotel in Sunyani the Bono Regional capital.
In her opening remarks at the official opening of the workshop, Dr. Henrietta Asante-Sarpong, the Director for Research, Monitoring and Evaluation at the National Commission for Civic Education expressed gratitude to GIZ and CHRAJ for the partnership. Dr. Asante-Sarpong also used the occasion to advise the participants to ensure active and conscious participation in the workshop in order to build their skills and capacities for effective civic education delivery on the subject. She also called for a closer collaboration between the NCCE and CHRAJ in the implementation of all activities pertaining to the project, post the training program.
