Under the theme, “Ghana’s Future: Our Collective Responsibility”, the Kwahu South Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has embarked on a series of public engagements among residents of the Municipality, consistent with the commemoration of the Commission’s flagship programme, the Constitution Week Celebration.
A wide range of participants, including congregants of faith-based organisations, socio-economic groups, officers of security services, members of social clubs, apprentices of artisanal learning facilities, among other identifiable groups, were engaged in disparate sessions.
Members of the staff of the Office, led by the Municipal Director, Ms. Ticklar Asante-Asiamah, facilitated all meetings, ensuring that messages were couched to suit each target audience. In this context, congregants of faith-based organisations were admonished to foster tolerance not only among themselves but also extend it to other members of society, irrespective of varying religious beliefs.
Peaceful co-existence was the fulcrum of the engagement with members of the Atibie Peace Club. Staff of the Kwahu South Office encouraged them to make a conscious effort to live at peace with others and implored them to agree to disagree.
Highlighting the need to exercise professionalism, officers of the Municipal Command of Ghana Immigration Service were charged to uphold the rule of law, reminding them of their ultimate duty to safeguard the borders of our beloved country. They were additionally advised to desist from corrupt activities that put the nation in jeopardy.
At each session, staff of the Commission reiterated that Ghana’s progress is heavily premised on the collective efforts of every citizen, whether young or old, state-employed or working in the private sector. The team urged the masses to endorse and be guided by the values of patriotism, integrity, tolerance, and environmental consciousness in running their day-to-day activities.
The Constitution Week Celebration presents an opportune time to convey a gentle prompt to the citizenry that Ghana’s future rests with its natives, and together, we can build a nation of peace, opportunity, and justice for every Ghanaian.
