This programme was on the theme: 30 Years of Consolidating Constitutional Democracy and Building National Cohesion: The Role of the Ghanaian Child”. Mrs. Selina Avevor (Assembly Member for Kuntunse Electoral Area) was one of the resource persons for the engagements.

Citizenship Week Celebration is one of the annual flagship programmes of the NCCE, whose mandate is to formulate, implement and oversee programmes intended to inculcate in the citizens of Ghana awareness of their civic responsibilities and an appreciation of their rights and responsibilities as free people (Article 233d of the 1992 Constitution).

Highlights of activities included the role of the Ghanaian child in upholding the principles of constitutional democracy; rights and responsibilities, accountability, environmental protection, personal hygiene, patriotism, and the rule of law.

Emphasizing the role of Ghanaian children in building a strong constitutional democracy and national cohesion, Mrs. Avevor stated, "Children are not just passive recipients of education and information; they are active participants in shaping our society. By providing them with opportunities to learn about democracy, human rights, and the importance of community engagement, we empower them to become active citizens who will carry our nation forward”.

The Ga West NCCE Municipal Director, Mrs. Edith Awudor remarked that it is our collective responsibility to nurture and guide the children towards becoming responsible citizens who value the principles of democracy, and tolerance, and contribute positively to our nation's development. Further, Mrs. Awudor reiterated the need to work together to provide children with quality civic education and provide platforms for their voices to be heard.
