Avoid posting offensive photographs of accident victims on social media. Bono NCCE cautious officers of GNFS.

Mr. Peter Kwabena Gyasi, the Bono Deputy Regional Director of the National Commission for Civic Education, met with officers of the Bono Regional Command of the Ghana National Fire Service on Wednesday June 23,2026 at a forum organised by the Commission. He stated that respect for personal privacy and human dignity are undermined when offensive photographs of accident victims are posted on social media platforms.

The forum, which forms part of the activities to mark the 2026 Annual Constitution Week Celebration was under the theme Upholding our Constitution in the Digital Age, Our Collective Responsibility. Mr Gyasi was very emphatic that obscene visual materials, including offensive photographs of especially accident victims, strongly offend public morals or community standards of decency. Mr Gyasi added that the digital environment has enhanced access to information and expanded avenues for citizens' engagement; however, it has also introduced challenges, including abuse of human rights, spread of misinformation and disinformation, intolerance, as well as abuses that threaten constitutional values and social cohesion. The officers were further cautioned against any involvement in cyber bullying, identity theft, cyber stalking, extortion and non consensual sharing of intimate images online since these abuses can have offline consequences including physical harm and psychological distress.
