Amansie West NCCE Rallies Students To Take Action Against Plastic Waste

To commemorate World Environment Day, the Amansie West Directorate of the NCCE held a civic engagement session with students of the Manso Nkwanta Vocational and Technical Institute, focusing on the growing issue of plastic waste management. Held at the school’s auditorium, the event aimed to promote environmental sustainability and responsible citizenship among the youth. The institute, supported by the Millennium Promise Alliance of Ghana and SDG Promise Japan, with backing from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, plays a key role in equipping young Ghanaians with skills for national development.

Mr. Aziz Adjei Laryea, the Amansie West District Director of the NCCE, led the session with a strong message on the civic duty of young people to help curb environmental degradation, especially through proper plastic waste disposal. Supported by civic education officers Mr. Stephen Agyei, Mr. Solomon Tumfour, and Mr. Pius Twumansi, the team emphasized the 3Rs—Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle—and provided practical ways students could take action in their daily lives. The school’s headmaster, Mr. Stanislous Acquah, praised the initiative and called for continued partnerships to raise a generation that is both environmentally conscious and civic-minded. The session featured interactive discussions and encouraged students to serve as environmental ambassadors in their communities.
