Uphold National Values to Grow into Responsible Adults – Yendi Municipal MCE to Students

The Chief Executive of Yendi Municipality, Hon. Sugri Muniru, has advised students within the jurisdiction to uphold national values, which he describes as foundational tenets to groom them into responsible future leaders of their communities and the nation at large.

This advice was given during an interaction with students from Yendi M/A and Naa Yakubu Junior High Schools in commemoration of the Citizenship Week Celebration, one of the flagship programmes of the Commission.

In his address, the Chief Executive registered his concern about the fast pace at which national values such as patriotism, honesty, hard work, and respect for one another, among others, are taking a nosedive among the citizenry.

Mr. Muniru thus deemed the engagement as timely and commended the Commission for developing this programme, which seeks to rekindle these values among the younger populace within the country.

Sharing his personal story, the MCE recalled the humble background he hails from and how people easily wrote him off. “But this is who I am today, because I did not relent on my values and principles in life, and this is why I am urging all of you to uphold these values to either end up like me, or even someone greater”, he stated.

He additionally cautioned them to desist from falling prey to substance abuse, as it has the tendency to derail them from reaching their goals, and implored them to stay focused on their books.
