Students of Tertiary Institutions of Ghana have been urged to use their collective voice as a student body to address corruption. At a series of symposia organized by the Regional office of the National Commission for Civic Education, students of Pentecost University and African University College of Communications (AUCC) were urged by Mr. Godfred Ebo Arhin a Senior Investigator with the Commission for Human Right (CHRAJ) Greater Accra Regional Directorate to note that, there is power in a collective voice, therefore as students with the knowledge they stand more empowered to set an agenda for development.
The Symposia were organized as part of nationwide sensitization activities undertaken by the NCCE under the Accountability Rule of Law and Anti-corruption Program (ARAP) supported by the European Union. This is to get the citizenry engaged, educated, and empowered to be active participants in the governance process by contributing to a reduction in corruption, improvement in accountability and compliance with the rule of law, and enhanced environmental governance. The durbar focused on Public Accountability and Environmental Governance.
In his presentation, Mr. Arhin urged the students to use the right means available to address corruption. He advised them to take this opportunity to issue a communiqué against corruption as a means of expressing their grievances regarding corruption.
