Spearhead the change you want Ghana to experience – Ga West residents urged

The Ga West Municipal Office of the National Commission for Civic Education has implored residents of the Municipality, a suburb of the Greater Accra Region of Ghana, to initiate the change they wish for Ghana to experience. This call was made during a series of community engagements by staff of NCCE, as part of activities to mark the Constitution Week Celebration, a flagship programme of the NCCE.

During a session with some traders at the Amasaman Market, the Director of the Municipal Office of the Commission, Mrs. Edith Akpene Awudor, entreated the traders, most of whom were women, to devise sustainable measures to keep the environment clean and safe for habitation and business.

She lamented the rate at which the traders slovenly litter within the business area, highlighting the threat it poses to the environment, especially with the onset of the rainy season. “Government spends a chunk of the nation’s resources just on filth, resources that could have been diverted to serve other urgent needs”, she emphasised.

Meanwhile, in an interaction with the Ghana National Tailors and Dressmakers’ Association (GNTDA), discussions centred on the need for every citizen, regardless of his/her profession, to uphold national values and contribute positively to society.

The interactive session also explored how tailors and dressmakers can be ambassadors of integrity and discipline in their everyday work. At the end of the day, one message is clear; there is an urgent need to reaffirm our belief that the future of Ghana depends on all of us, and together, we can build a better nation for generations to come.
