Sekyere Kumawu NCCE Launches Civic Education Club at Technology Solutions Centre

The Sekyere Kumawu District Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has added to the number of Civic Education Clubs (CECs) in the district with the establishment of a new CEC at the Technology Solutions Centre in Temate, Ashanti Region.

This newly formed Civic Education Club would serve as a conduit to provide students with engaging activities that build civic skills, foster respect for democratic principles, and encourage active participation in national development. Aside from that, the club would be a platform for students to practice leadership, teamwork, and community service, preparing them for both present and future leadership opportunities.

Following the club formation was a quick engagement on the topic, “Upholding the Principles of Ghana’s 1992 Constitution”, set to remind the students of their rights and responsibilities as citizens. Best described as an interactive session, officers from the NCCE engaged the students on responsible leadership and constitutional values.

Addressing the students, a staff member with the Sekyere Kumawu district office, Miss Elizabeth Botchway, emphasised the essence of cultivating values that strengthen Ghana’s democracy. “Our Constitution is the backbone of our nation. The only way you can be empowered is to know, understand, and uphold it, to enable you to contribute towards safeguarding the future of our democracy,” she noted.

The Civic Education Club drive aligns with the NCCE’s broader mandate of deepening civic consciousness among the younger generation across Ghana, ensuring that they are equipped to contribute meaningfully to the country’s democratic journey.
