Ghanaian citizens have been urged not to let personal benefit be the motivating factor when it comes to blowing the whistle on corruption. This was expressed by the Ablekuma Central Municipal Director of the Commission for Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) Ms. Evelyn Gyimah at a community durbar organized by the Abelkuma Central Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE).
The NCCE organized this durbar as part of nationwide sensitization activities undertaken under the Accountability Rule of Law and Anti-corruption Program (ARAP) with support from the European Union. This is to get the citizenry engaged, educated, and empowered to be active participants in the governance process by contributing to a reduction in corruption, improvement in accountability and compliance with the rule of law, and enhanced environmental governance. The durbar focused on Public Accountability and Environmental Governance.
According to the Whistleblowers Act, 2006 Act 720, “a whistleblower whose disclosure results in the recovery of an amount of money shall be rewarded from the Fund with, ten percent (10%) of the amount of money recovered, or the amount of money that the Attorney-General shall, in consultation with the Inspector-General of Police,
